KM Column - 3 May 2018 - Tower View Closure
Over the past couple of weeks, I have received a lot of emails from Kings Hill residents who are understandably annoyed and confused by Liberty Property Trust’s decision to close Tower View for the construction of the new pedestrian crossing.
The crossing is needed before anyone moves into the new homes. It makes sense to put the infrastructure in before people live in the new development. However, many rightly question why this is taking place in school term time, as the exam season kicks off.
Unfortunately, the gas works are returning in the summer holidays so it won’t be possible to do it then. But I am disappointed that further consideration wasn’t given to doing this in July, after exams, when many people are away. This would have had less impact on access in and out of Kings Hill.
But, I am very grateful to Liberty for opening the new road between Kings Hill Avenue and Tower View. Not only will this be a good diversion for cars while Tower View is shut, but it will permanently increase connectivity between the main entrance and the Sports Park. It will also make a huge difference for those living in and around Beacon Avenue.
A couple of weeks ago, I am pleased to say, I officially opened the road. While there is still a long way to go to deal with traffic problems around Kings Hill, this will go a long way in helping to reduce them.
