KM Column - Christmas - 20 December 2018
Christmas is a special time of year. After a long and busy year, it's a chance for reflection, relaxation and an opportunity to spend time with our friends and family. Many of us also use the time as a chance to attend the various events put on across our community to celebrate everything we have achieved over the year and to get together with friends and neighbours.
It is also a very busy time for me, and as well as my usual commitments, both here and in Parliament, there are a lot of extra events to attend including many of our carol concerts in Tonbridge and Kings Hill. It’s always a joy to see how many people come along to celebrate, and it’s always nice to see familiar faces you don’t get the chance to catch up with at other times. I’ve enjoyed seeing our villages and towns decked out in lights and decorations making them that much more special. I’m also visiting the Royal Mail Sorting Office in Tonbridge to speak to our hard-working postmen and women who work tirelessly to ensure everyone gets their cards and parcels.
Like you, I’m looking forward to spending Christmas with my family, and hope that everyone enjoys a peaceful festive season too. Over the next few days my office will be closed but I shall still be monitoring all correspondence, so please continue to contact me if you have an urgent issue that needs resolving and I’ll respond as quickly as I can. My office will return to usual hours on Wednesday 2 January 2019.
I’d like to finish by wishing you all a very Happy Christmas.
